If you have made it this far into my website, Congratulations are in order. You are probably one of the very few people in history to have completely read

"War And Peace".

I have done my homework and have been open and honest with you to the very best of my ability. Let’s sit back and see what the other candidates have to say. Will they be as straightforward with you as I have been? You may not agree with everything that I stand for. But at least you know what I do stand for. I have not taken a wishy-washy approach, but let you know what position I hold on these issues.

I am open to suggestions and corrections, as nothing is carved in stone. I do not have all the answers and I don’t pretend to. I am willing, however, to research and find plausible solutions, or at least recommendations to present to new members of my council.

The way I see it, you either want to serve the city or you don't. There is no middle ground. A lot of potential candidates wait until the last minute before deciding to file for office. This way, they can see who else is running and what kind of a chance they may have. They are not sure if they want to throw their hat in the ring. We need someone that is sure, sure of himself and sure of the issues at stake.

I decided four years ago, that I wanted to run for this office, and in one way or another I have been campaigning and preparing ever since. I was prepared to launch this site (and if fact did) in Feb. which was the time we filed last election. The filing period for this election has been changed to July. At first, I thought it was a good idea, (our campaign signs wouldn't get weathered over the 10 month interum). But, I then realized that "they" changed the date, not for that reason, but that the new candidates wouldn't have but about 3 months to get organized!

Although the polls don't open until October 9th for a Primary Run-off for Mayor of Goldsboro and DIsctrict 3, and again on November 6th for the General electrion (except for the One-Stop Voting ), according to the Board of Elections, I have launched my campaign early (at least by the new July standard). Because I want every citizen to know that I AM SURE, and I am running, sincere, and intent on making Goldsboro a better place to live. I encourage everyone to get involved in the process, know the candidates and what they stand for (and what the existing candidates have done for you in the past). The BEST RULE OF THUMB is to NOT RE-ELECT ANYONE!!!

I find the story Mayor not yet sure if he will seek re-election hard to believe, (unless it is a little pre-election publicity or to test the waters). I suspect this Goldsboro election will be an interesting event, more so than in other years, both because of the hot topic of the Force Annexation as well as my other platform issues. Some of which have not crossed anyone's mind. As I work on this website On Jan 21st, I read the News Argus article Council members not ready to commit. Case in point. WE NEED COMMITMENT!

They will be watching this website closely!
And because of me...D. A. STUART ,........they may feel that they have to go out and get their own website. (although there won't be too many accomplishments to put on it)

Update: It's only fair to say that two of the current councilmen have made an announcement that they will seek re-election before this website was launched. 01/23/07 Councilman Rev. Williams announces his bid for re-election and 02/13/07 Warrick will run to keep his seat

Now, let me predict,...... with the launching of this website, you will hear a lot of this content come up. You may not have heard most of it before, but miraculously, others, especially the incumbents, will jump on the band wagon and be 'concerned' with the new issues/ideas I have presented.

Why wasn't it brought up over the last four years while they were in office? You may even see some of the problems resolved. If that is the case... good! Any improvements before the election, is one improvement we won't have to deal with after the election. And I would have already made a change for Goldsboro before I take office.



A new day is about to dawn on this great city, and while it is yet twilight, we must prepare to carry the torch forward without falter to a brighter new day. I hope that we may all work together with the citizens of this city to bring Goldsboro up to standard and then push it far beyond. We have such great potential, if everyone will just come together unselfishly, there will be no limit of success. I am thankful for this opportunity to run and being able to meet all the new people that I have in the process. I would like to thank each and everyone of you for your support in advance.

I respectfully request your consideration for my candidacy as Mayor for the City of Goldsboro in this upcoming October 9th Primary and subsequent November 6th election. Although this is an "off-year" election, it doesn’t mean that it’s not an important election. This is YOUR chance to have YOUR voice heard and protect and shape the future of this great city for the next four years...and well beyond..

My vision for Goldsboro is one that will plan for the future while attempting to preserve our historic past as well as the aspects of life that make this city a desirable place for all of us to work and live. There are many factors that make Goldsboro a desirable place to live. However, if proper planning for structured growth is not put in place, many of those who find this city such a great place to live will end up seeing destroyed the very reason they chose to move here.

Growth must be properly managed!!

We need to promote our city in a positive light to business and industry, that they may be able to take advantage of our location in close proximity to I-95, I-40 and even the Global Transpark. We must consider and have in place viable alternatives to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. We cannot ignore the fact that there may be another BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure)

Your newly elected group of Councilmen must consist of people who can think independently without any undue influence from individuals promoting their own personal agendas that may not take into full consideration the overall good of this city. They must not take advantage of their position and promote their personal agenda for self gain.

Our city government must be proactive, not just reactive. Please choose to protect the future of Goldsboro. Your vote and support for me will not be wasted. I am asking for your vote in the Primary election and again in November. And in return for your vote, I will do my very best to provide you with open and honest leadership for the future of this great city. I would appreciate your vote and support and I thank you in advance for your consideration. Regardless of your race or political affiliation, I will work for you and for the overall good of Goldsboro.
